Received an e-mail from my sister which contains some interesting facts, some i know are true but some i have a doubt about them. But the last fact is true after verifying in internet. Here they are, enjoy.

yea got another more authoritative source for the origins of the F-word. You will be surprised the F-word is also allegedly used as an acronym for "Found Under Carnal Knowledge", further calling its reliability and veracity into question.

this is adapted from the American Heritage Dictionary. The "Fornification Under the Consent of the King" has its origin in a Playboy article. Between a dictionary and adult magazine, I'm more inclined to believe the former. :)
But yea the science part of the email, like the one concerning dolphins, starfish, are true. I'm more reserved about the heart, cuz I thought it was supposed to be 6m instead of 10m. Not a doctor myself, perhaps LiPing can shed some light on this? ^_^

Haha, i searched on the net and found the same explanation for fact no. 13 so i though it was true, paiseh paiseh...
As for the heart 1, i doubt about it as well cos 10m is a lot. In a fluid mechanics point of view, the result can be affected by the section of the output from which blood is shot and other parameters such as the difference of pressure inside and outside the heart, the flow of blood etc. Hmm...Dr. Lim, any idea?

cardiac pressure(P) = 120mmHG
Using the Bernoulli's Principe, i got
h = P/(ρ*g)+(v^2)/(2*g)
where
h = height
ρ = density of blood (1060 kg/m^3)
v = velocity of blood(Q/s)
s = (πd^2)/4
g = gravity(9.81 m*s^-2)
blood can shoot up to 1.6m high.
However, i think it might be more than 1.6m cos here we take Q=5L/min which is the output inside the human body. Since there is friction between blood and veins, the blood flow is slowed down and so the value of Q is reduced. Moreover we dunno what other hypothesis has the person who get this result made.
This thing help me to revise my last year fluid mechanics, lol...
