Airbus Visit

Have been quite busy recently, so didn't update my blog for quite some time. Just visited the Airbus site in Saint Nazaire last Thurday, it was a one day trip organized by the Flying West association of ESTACA. This is my second visit to an Airbus site, last year i visited the one in Toulouse. But since each site is specialized in only certain parts of an Airbus plane, you can always see different things.

For your information, the largest passenger airliner in the world, A380 is an Airbus. 1 A380 has its different parts made in UK, Germany, Spain and France. All parts are then delivered to Toulouse to be assembled. A bit disappointed in my last visit to the site in Toulouse because we were only allowed to see the planes form far and were seperated by glasses. The visit to Saint Nazaire allowed me to approach and even touch a real A380, even though we only had a part of the A380 fuselage in this site. You really cant imagine how big the thing is and it's amazing that this thing can fly in the sky, i love aeronautics.

We were quite lucky that day because we have got the chance to see a real Beluga, which had just finished unloading parts to the site. The flight used by Airbus the deliver aircraft parts from site to site. Here is and image of it, its head let me think of the famous flower horn, lol...Why i said we were lucky? Because there are only 5 Belugas in the world, and you don't see them in normal airports.
What a pity, no photos are allowed in the site compound, if not i can share some of them with you. Nyway, i just simply took a few photos inside the bus, just not to waste my efford of bringing my camera, LOL...
Airbus photo took inside a "landbus".

And guess what, coincidently the son of the lady who showed us around is going to study in Kuala Lumpur for 6 months in 2 weeks time. She was so worry and she asked me a lot of questions like "What is the weather in Malaysia?", "Will we have any problem if we don't know Malay" etc...Haha, finally i gave her my email so that his son can contact me if he has any question.

This visit make me feel wanna do an internship in Airbus this summer, but the problem is that the places are limited and it's hard to get. Moreover, i haven't started to search for informations about the application. AIRBUS, open your door and wait for me!!!

have you not flown in the Airbus A380 before? MAS should have used them already right?

Nope, MAS doesn't own any airbus. If you wanna fly from Sing to Sydney then maybe you can fly in a A380.

ah ok. i've flown before liao... think the only difference is the seat only kua where you have more leg room. Or maybe that's because i unlucky got the bottom deck and not the upper deck? XD

hey are u sure that u've flown in an A380 before? It has been quite some time u last went to Aus rite? The 1st fly of A380 was on the 25/10/07. Moreover there was only 1 A380 in operation before 2008. Were you not in a Boeing 747?

yea i flew from singapore to london using the A380 this year via SIA. The flight route is like this one, sydney (or melbourne) to singapore, stop refuel then off to london! Oh one thing I like about the plane is that it's quieter than the rickety boeing 747 and during take off and landing there wasn't much turbulence.

Wow, cool...Damn it, why there is no A380 from Sing to Paris?
